13 September @ Innovations Centre, University of the Sunshine Coast
During Disability Action Week, Parent to Parent Associal Qld, in partnership with the QLD Government and Sunshine Coast Regional Council, is bringing together Social Enterprises from across Queensland to showcase their services and share their journey.
P2P in partnership with the Queensland State Government and Sunshine Coast Regional Council is holding a Social Enterprise Action Forum on Sept 13th during Disability Action Week. This Forum is bringing together Social Enterprises from across Queensland to showcase their services and share their journey of this unique enterprise model. Social Enterprises provide meaningful activities, or employment, for people with a disability, or others marginalised from mainstream employment. They can also potentially provide an alternative income stream for services.
As the NDIS rolls out, funding to disability services will become contested and they will need to be creative in how they operationalise and attract additional income. This forum will provide information to begin those conversations within and between services and the broader community. It will also provide networking opportunities with a range of social enterprises and impact investors. An afternoon world café session will be dedicated to brainstorming potential concepts and strategies for developing social enterprises on the Sunshine Coast. Actions from this session will be recorded and commitments for continuing discussions sought. This will then be followed up with another Forum on Wednesday 6 December to coincide with International Day of People with a Disability.
