What is a social enterprise

A social enterprise is a business that puts people and planet first. It trades like any other business but exists specifically to make the world a better place.

Social enterprises are businesses guided by a social and/or environmental purpose. They derive most of their revenue through trade rather than grants, donations, or gifts. They reinvest a majority of their efforts and resources back into their mission and impact model.

You can see some examples of Queensland Social Enterprises below.

Newsroom

“I regularly use the QSEC Stories as case studies to explain the value of engaging with social enterprises. These stories bring to life the people and real impact that social enterprises bring, and help buyers’ understand the tangible ‘real life’ difference that they can make by choosing to procure from a social enterprise.”
