What is a social enterprise

 A social enterprise is a business that puts people and planet first. It trades like any other business but exists specifically to make the world a better place.

Social enterprises are businesses guided by a social and/or environmental purpose. They derive most of their revenue through trade rather than grants, donations, or gifts. They reinvest a majority of their efforts and resources back into their mission and impact model.

IMPACT Community Services operates two social enterprises: the Material Recovery Facility on University Drive and the New Image Laundry.


Youth RESET is a Wellbeing Framework teaching specific body-breath-mind self-care strategies proven to enhance the physical, mental and emotional health of youth and adults.


Bama is widely recognised as the leading Indigenous-owned business and Indigenous employer across in civil engineering and construction, building and landscape construction, and facilities and garden maintenance throughout Northern Queensland.


Proudly Aboriginal owned and led, Sobah is Australia’s first non-alcoholic craft beer company run by husband-wife team Clinton and Lozen Schultz and based on beautiful Kombumerri country, a part of the Yugambeh language regions, known as the Gold Coast, Queensland.
