What is the Social Change Fellowship?

The Westpac Social Change Fellowship is an incredible opportunity for social entrepreneurs to spend time investing in their skills, leadership capabilities and networks.

Our Fellows receive funding to invest in their professional development not their organisation. Whether you’re looking to expand your networks, explore global best practices or build your leadership capacity, we’ll help you curate a development plan that supports you.

Eligibility requirements

We’re looking for purpose driven individuals committed to driving positive change. To be eligible to apply you must be able to answer ‘yes’ to ALL of the questions below:

  1. Are you an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident? (You will be required to provide supporting documentation on request.)
  2. Are you over the age of 18?
  3. Do you have experience initiating and leading social change?
  4. Are you currently in a leadership role within an existing organisation/initiative and responsible for leading a team?
  5. Is the organisation/initiative tackling a social issue of importance to Australian communities? (I.e. an issue impacting the wellbeing of Australians.)
  6. Is the organisation/initiative able to evidence its social impact? (Your current organisation/initiative should be beyond the validation stage. See stages (PDF 56KB).
  7. Are you able to demonstrate support from the community your organisation/initiative is serving?
  8. Are you seeking funding for your personal development (not for your organisation/initiative) which will enable you to scale your social impact?
  9. Are you able to commit to and participate fully in the fellowship program, including taking time out of your organisation/initiative, to make the most of the opportunity within the award year? (In addition to your development plan activities, the program includes a multiday Leadership Development Residential and the annual Scholars Summit.)

Note: only one individual per organisation can receive a Westpac Social Change Fellowship in each application year if the organisation has less than fifty employees.
