Established in 2014 The Nest supports ideas of environmentalism and sustainability. Therefore, we value the re-use of materials and the re-purpose of goods to minimise waste. The community is passionate about affirmative action against landfill through upcycling and recycling, and our organisation is funded through our social enterprise schemes operated by over 60 volunteers that support this ethos. These activities include: Community Events, Community Garden, Workshops, Retreats, Forums and a sustainable art and craft material shop - “The Nest Haberdashery” (a repurposed art and craft material and equipment shop). In addition, currently, The Nest supports 30 other community groups through donations of skills and materials.
When you purchase from the Haberdashery, or book into an event or workshop, you are not just purchasing a creative experience for yourself but you are also contributing significantly towards making our activities accessible to those women and children who are less fortunate. Over 1000 women benefit from the organisations facilities and intergenerational activities annually.
