For more than 20 years, Redcliffe Area Youth Space (RAYS) has grown with its community, from establishing itself as a local youth space to having a clear identity as a trusted, relational and healing centred organisation. Over time, in response to community need, our focus has sharpened to walk alongside the most vulnerable and disengaged young people in the community. What has remained constant is our commitment to youth culture and creating spaces where young people feel seen, safe and valued.
Today, RAYS is more than a space. It is a hub for gathering, belonging and connection. We deliver a range of programs that respond to the complex realities young people face, including case management, psychosocial and mental health supports, education, training and employment pathways, social enterprises and social inclusion groups. Our programs have also expanded to include Safe Space, a peer led initiative providing support to community members in distress.

Our Work
Redcliffe Area Youth Space (RAYS) operates dynamic social enterprises that directly support our mission of empowering vulnerable young people. All net profits generated are reinvested into our charitable operations: funding clinical care, emergency support, and our Independent Special Assistance School.
Beyond generating revenue, these enterprises act as active, inclusive platforms for youth capacity building, offering hands-on work experience, skills development, and social connection.
Our 4 Social Enterprises:
Connections Catering
Focus: Ethical, sustainable catering serving Brisbane and Moreton Bay.
Impact & Youth Connection: Employs eco-friendly practices while creating structured pathways for young people to gain practical hospitality skills, employment experience, and workplace confidence in a supportive setting.
Picnic Hill
Focus: Picnic Hill, a series of purposeful community events, was created to bring people of all ages together through shared experiences that feel welcoming, relaxed and uniquely local. At its heart, it is about creating space to gather, to share and to connect in ways that feel meaningful and joyful. In conjunction it offers an online store of products that amplify and expand the social message.
Impact & Youth Connection: Young people gain hands-on event and retail experience while fostering broad community connection and inclusion.
Ride Supplies
Focus: Skateboard/scooter retail shop and repair workshop co-located next to the local skate park.
Impact & Youth Connection: Meets young people where they are by engaging them in positive action around their hobbies, teaching retail skills, mechanical repair, and encouraging pro-social activities.
Misfits United
Focus: Table-top gaming, comics, and pop-culture community hub.
Impact & Youth Connection: Provides a safe, neuro-affirming, and inclusive environment where young people build social networks, develop teamwork, and gain experience in retail operations and community building.
