The Cage Youth Foundation - Helps Our Community
We are a self-funded charity established in 2001 in Redlands including the marginalised Southern Moreton Bay Islands supporting young people and their families.
We have been operating as a social enterprise since 2009, with the establishment of several business programs, which not only produce an income to enable us to provide our community services, over and above grants and project funding, but also provides opportunities to employ local. We look to support our community through a holistic approach to assist the whole person.
Our Community programs include: life skills and mentoring in local primary & high schools, Counselling Services including Art Therapy, crisis intervention and general health & wellbeing.
We are hosts for both Skilling Queenslander's for Work programs " Community Work Skills" and the “Get Set for Work” and have hosted the Work for the Dole Projects, through which we have assisted to up-skill several locals we have been either disengaged or out of work, at the end of our programs we have been successful in assisting many to secure employment locally through our varied networks.
Our Social businesses models provide practical services with contracts with Redland City Council and local Real Estates , undertaking such works as yard and lawn maintenance, painting, general gardening, graffiti spotting and removal services, litter pick up. Our social business have been strategic in providing us with a solid income as opposed to the fluctuating ebb and flows of funding rounds, from which.
